South Korea has donated 2 million
masks to the US, which is having a difficult time containing its COVID-19 outbreak. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said the masks were provided to an ally in a spirit of cooperation on May 11. The mask donation was part of an initiative to enhance South Korea-US cooperation on fighting COVID-19, which was discussed during a phone call between US President Donald Trump and South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Mar. 24. US Ambassador Harry Harris tweeted messages of gratitude to South Korea, saying “Our alliance and friendship are as vital and ironclad today as it was 70 years ago.”
